Challenge:

Klamath-Trinity Joint Unified School District (JUSD) faced persistent theft and vandalism issues at their maintenance facility, with items such as fuel, batteries, tools, and vehicles being stolen regularly. The existing video surveillance system was inadequate, as recorded perpetrators could not be easily identified, hampering efforts to apprehend and prosecute them effectively.

Solution:

IDS and AT&T collaborated on a phased approach to address Klamath-Trinity JUSD's security challenges. Initially, IDS proposed and implemented a network video recorder capable of monitoring nine cameras and archiving footage for approximately 14 days. They also installed five new cloud-based cameras around the district's maintenance buildings. This solution proved successful as identifiable vandals were captured on video within a few weeks, leading to successful prosecutions and a sharp decline in vandalism and theft incidents.
